[Gasification] Which engine design might be BEST for woodgas?

Greg,
I have an old complete Rabbit Diesel engine (early version).Do you think this would make a suitable candidate for conversion to "Wood GAS"
for driving a 15kw alternator? If so what solid state ignition system should I substitute for the injector pump?

Greetings Pete, and list.
Large piston, long stroke (slow RPM), many cylinder (8+), high
ompression engines, are the best Candidates
 A 16 cylinder 1000 CID 15 to 1 Compression, 5" + stroke would be ideal.

aterpillar makes a Really Nice 3412. remove the injectors, double the
eadgaskets, re-lash the valves for the higher head height, install
I unit in place of the injector pump... would be fantastic !!!!

nyone got a cool 40 grand kicking around for the engine ??

Since folks are currently commenting on their favorite exotic engine, maybe
it would be worthwhile to examine the whole field of “funny” engines that
have appeared and disappeared over the years as candidates for the unique
 properties of producer gas/woodgas, etc.

Of course, I have my own favorite funny engine, invented by the brother of a
co worker, but I will not burden you all with that one for now.

There may even be some value in imagining a ground-up engine design that
would be IDEAL for our fuel.
