Well put.

Renewable energy presents an opportunity to grasp what living within our
(energy) means might look like. The extended fossil fuel binge we've been on
has been lots of fun for some, but has come at untold cost to the planet's
habitability & stability, not to mention the scale and patterns of human
habitation it has inspired. AD is not something we could hope to scale up to
match current demand for heating and cooking fuels worldwide, but it could
and likely will compete more favorably as we enter the post Peak Oil period
when the notion that all that good stuff in the ground was free or there for
the taking will fade into memory.

I think we may re-discover the importance of scale, of matching the fuel to
the end use, of sufficiency, of enough.
