[Greenbuilding] Timbersil and Kebony

Haven¹t actually used it but have run by it, talked to them, seen samples,
etc. It¹s expensive‹as I remember 2-3 times std pressure treated, but good,
strong, effective, safe. Logistics can be a problem‹getting small
project-size shipments can be tricky and/or expensive without a local
distributor (which is best as a lumber yard), of which there are very few.

Kebony is a similar concept, operating b/w NC and Norway --
http://kebony.com. This one we¹ve dealt a few projects. They¹re not doing
FSC in US right now but are in Europe‹if the market builds for it they will
offer FSC here. It¹s been used on a number of high-profile municipal
projects like Bethany Beach, DE boardwalk and I think Coney Island or other
Long Island boardwalks.
Has a nice dark brown color, kinda like Ipe. Will go gray but it¹s just on
the surface so just wash it to renew it.
General pricing:
2x6: $5/lf
5/4 board 1.1²x 5.7² - $3.98/lf
They generally have 12, 14 and 16 foot long boards available.
And they will LTL ship project-size orders.
